AMD set to roll out Phenom processor family

AMD is all set to roll out 'Phenom' processor family in second half of 2007. The new Phenom family will have the architecture similar to quad-core Opteron processors which is set to be launched in mid 2007. AMD has not yet shared features or specification of Phenom and as a result some industry experts are not giving comments before any benchmark test. But Industry experts do feel that the time has arrived that multi core processing should be available to masses as more and more multitasking, video etc. is being used in everyday applications.

AMD Phenom will be answer to Intel's Dual core processor family and it'll be optimised for multitasking, digital entertainment, complex media creation etc. AMD's Product Manager Ian McNaughton said that AMD is now working on processors that enhance user experience by optimizing for multimedia entertainment.
